Course on a single topic on the basis of the linguistic and literary competences acquired during the course of Romance Philology I.
The course aims to give a complete picture of origins, structure and evolution of medieval romance languages, to increase the knowledge of the medieval romance literatures by reading vernacular texts, to provide the students with competences about the comparative study of medieval works and about textual criticism.
The course aims to give to the students these competences:
1 – the ability to read literary medieval texts in their original language,
2 – the ability to contextualize medieval works in the socioeconomical landscape in which they are written.

The subject of the course is
«Arthur before king Arthur»
During the lessons will be analyzed medieval texts that describe king Arthur. Will be analyzed also two medieval frescos ( Frugarolo's and Sidlecin cycles) in wich is represented the arthurian courtly world.

Oral exam
The examination shal consist of an oral check about the course's subject and its critical bibliography by means some questions made by the Commission. Questions will focus on topics covered during the cours, both linguistics and literary.
Student's valuation will take account not only of the knowledge of the course's contents but also of a good explanation and a correct use of the philology's specific language.
