It is accompanied by practical language courses, held by native French teachers, at an advanced level. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the course the student will be able to: use the main concepts in the field of pragmatics and French discourse analysis for critical reading and analysis of media discourse; use methodological competence in discourse analysis to analyze media texts; use competences in corpus linguistic analysis. PREREQUISITES Students will have language competences in French of level B2. TEACHING METHODS Presential lessons with Aulaweb support. The student will have to be able to identify and analyze pragmatics phenomena, using theoretical knowledge in an appropriate way. ASSESSMENT METHODS Theoretical module: written exam (2 hours) aims at assessing he acquisition by the students of theoretical knowledge in the field of pragmatics and the ability to apply this knowledge. The student will have to prove to be able to: identify pragmatic phenomena; organize them in a structured way and analyze them; sum up basical theoretical knowledge. Practical exercises: oral exam (manipulation of oral text) and written exam (manipulation of written text) aiming at assessing the ability to understand texts, written and oral, to interact with other speakers, to reformulate, to express complex and nuanced personal opinions; all of this at level C1.
