OVERVIEW

Contemporary Spain (1975-2015) through History and Literature

AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

This course is intended to provide students with a historical and literary understanding of contemporary Spain, from the end of the Franco regime to today. Students will examine themes related to the Transition, the strengthening of democracy and the development of fundamental societal debates in contemporary Spain. Students will get a literary vision of these themes by reading excerpts of some of the most important recent works of fiction.

TEACHING METHODS

36 hours of classroom lectures in the I semester (3 hours per week)

Attending students:

-course notes and material provided in class

- Marco Succio, Dal Movimiento alla Movida. Il romanzo spagnolo dal franchismo a oggi (1939-2011), Milano, Franco Angeli, 2012 (da pag. 125 a pag. 179)

- Analysis and presentation of a Spanish novel published between 1975 and 2016. Details will be provided in class.

 

Non-attending students:
