The course provides the students with advanced skills in Swedish language to reach the C2 level of the CEFR. In the theorical module the syncronic evolution of the Swedish language and its non-standard variants weill be taken into consideration.
The course aims at provinding students with further advanced knowledge about the Swedish language and its use in various contexts, paying particular attention to textual analysis and writing techniques and dedicating a series of practical classes to the teaching of Swedish for specific purposes and in specific areas of professional interest. The course is divided into two parts: a one-semester linguistics module and a two-semester practical language module.
The linguistic module aims at presenting the main trends in contemporary Swedish, paying particular attention to the spoken language and its non standard varieties, such as the language of the immigrants and the youth slang. The English influence on Swedish will also be taken into consideation.
The practical language module aims at bringing students to the C2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in reading, listening, speaking and writing. At the end of the course, the students will be able to understand with easy anything they read or hear and to express their opinion spontaneously fluently and precisely in the most complex situations.
A linguistic competence equivalent to the C1 level of the Common European Framework.
Practical language classes (taught completely in Swedish) and frontal lectures (taught mainly in Swedish) with the support of the platform Aulaweb.
The theoretical module "Trends in contemporary Swedish" consists of an introduction to the main trends influencing, on a syncronic level, contemporary Swedish, paying particular attention to the spoken language. In this, the language spoken in multi-ethnic, immigrant-dense areas, youth slang and the lexical and syntactic influence of English on the Swedish language will be taken into consideration.
The annual practical course will focus on the reading and comment of complex texts, on reading and listening exercises and on the production of both oral and written argumentative texts.
Relevant bibliography will be provided and made available on the platform Aulaweb during the course.
SWEDISH LANGUAGE II
The practlcal course is assessed through a written exam constituted by reading, listening and the writing of an argumentative essay. A monolingual dictionary can be used during this part of the exam. Speaking skills are assessed in a oral conversation on current themes and events.
The theoretical module is assessed in an oral exam - in either Italian or Swedish according to the candidate's preference - on the topics of the course.
The oral exam on the theorical module will verify the acquisition of the notions introduced during the course, as far as the trends in contemporary Swedish are concerned.
The practical exam will verify the candidate's ability to understand and produce highly complex texts both in written and in spoken form.
The final mark is the arithmetic mean of the marks obtained in the three parts, each weighing 33% ot the total.
