AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES A la fin du cours, les étudiants auront acquis des connaissances et des compétences approfondies dans le domaine de l'analyse du discours d'empreinte française, une bonne maitrise des outils d'analyse méta-linguistique et thématique des différentes manifestations discursives de la langue des médias. At the end of the course, the students will have acquired deep knowledge and expertise in the field of French discourse analysis, both in terms of meta-linguistic analysis tools and thematic aspects, including different media languages. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the course, students will be able to: - know and remember the main notions concerning French discourse analysis; - know and remember the main notion concerning discourse analysis (moment discursif, polémique, autorité, corpus numérique) - identify media discourse textual trends, most notably as far as media discourse is concerned (WEB 2.0); - analyse textual patterns in media discourses using the theoretical framework of French "analyse du discours"; - identify rethorical and argumentative strategies in texts, most notably as far as the persuasive functions of texts are concerned. Students will also have acquired basic skills in corpus analysis. Practical exercises: at the end of the courses, students will be able to understand and analyse media texts and discourses in French (C1 level of the Common Framework) , most notably as far as linguistic carachteristics of journalistic and audiovisual discourses are concerned. PREREQUISITES C1 level of the Common European Framework TEACHING METHODS Plenary lessons, seminars and team working activities. Consolidation activities by Aulaweb. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The course presents an overview of discourse analysis tools in the framework of media communication. In particular, the course will address meidatic communication in French, with reference to the persuasive and argumentative function of texts. The limit between information and vulgarisation will be further explored through the analysis of textual corpora. Rating out of thirty. ASSESSMENT METHODS The exam will test the methodological skills acquired in the analysis of media discourse, through the examination of authentic texts.
