At the end of the course, the student: - will have acquired knowledge regarding the birth and development of non-European francophone literature; - will have mastered the tools of literary study; - will be able to recognize the scientific limits and difficulties of literary history; - will be able to recognize the different linguistic ancd cultural specificities present in literary texts; - will be able to analyze and interpret theoretical and narrative texts; - will be able to elaborate short texts of presentation of narrative works for a non-specific readership; - will know how to present the contents and specific features of a narrative text for a non-specific readership, placing it in the cultural and historical context of origin; - will know how to plan the display of advertising material relating to the literary text in a professional publishing context;

The second part of the course, provided by Prof. Merello, will be a focus on the literary history, its natural process of evolution and the difficulty of adapting critical tools. The texts in the bibliography will be used in lectures and as a basis for analysis and discussion.
