Individuals and social contexts are considered inseparable by the community psychology; they create an ecosystem whose knowledge is essential to understand the people’s behavior and to increase their well-being. Working in the perspective of community psychology, through its methods and techniques, means acting on relational and group processes, territorywise as a community that can sustain well-being.
The course aims to promote the psychologist education in socio-cultural, organizational and territorial context related to the person, groups and the community well-being. In particular it aims to train the ability to offer multi-level interventions, to read the contexts in preventive perspective, deepening the work of communities within the social and health services.
The course intends to deepen the discipline of community psychology through theoretical, research and intervention models, aimed at promoting community development. Furthermore, the course aims to provide skills both for the reading of contexts and for the definition and activation of community and evaluation projects, interventions and programs, based on well-being and empowerment.
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
Basic knowledge of community psychology, with particular reference to the key constructs of the discipline
The course will alternate lectures introducing methods and techniques, with investee lessons through the presentation of interventions in the field. Group activities can be also arranged to promote active learning methodologies of community psychology.
The following techniques will be analyzed in detail: analysis and writing of community profiles; organizational analysis of institutions, groups, associations; development and construction of community evaluation and intervention projects.

METHODS AND TECHNIQUES OF THE COMMUNITY ' PSYCHOLOGY
The acquired knowledge will be verified through a written test with open questions on the contents of the program. Through this modality, the theoretical and methodological knowledge acquired by the student will be verified, the critical view in relation to the main constructs addressed and the ability to translate them into application contexts.
Exam methods for attending students:
Attending lectures will provide an overview of the materials on the program, thanks also to the course slides, available on Aulaweb. Attending students will therefore be able to prioritize study slides, lecture notes and use the texts in the program as a reference in case of further study. The writing will focus on the topics addressed in the classroom.
Exam methods for non-attending students:
Written exam: 6 open questions on the general themes in the program. The score for each answer ranges from 0 to 5 points (based on criteria of relevance, correctness and completeness of the answers). Students will have 2 hours to complete the test.
Through the answers to open questions, students will be able to demonstrate that they have adequate knowledge of the main methodologies and techniques in the field of community psychology and that they are able to apply the knowledge acquired in relation to the realization of community interventions. Students will be able to prove the acquisition of the technical language typical of the discipline.
Attending students, in addition to open questions, will have to plan a community intervention, according to the modalities that they will present in class.
