AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course deals with the theoretical and operational tools related to the economic and financial sustainability assessment of interventions on built heritage at the construction and urban scale.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is to teach students the evaluation methodologies that allow the evaluation of the economic-financial feasibility of building interventions, whether new construction, recovery or energy and / or structural retrofitting.

The methodologies dealt with allow for the attainment of the knowledge to face and solve the questions related to the evaluation of the economic-financial feasibility of the interventions, in the different phases of project development.

TEACHING METHODS

The course is developed in three levels:

  • lectures;
  • thematic analysis by consulting documents and others materials available on-line (aul@web site course);
  • a practical activities by mans the development of evaluation exercise to be carried out individually or in work group.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course is divided in two parts:

First part

  • The evaluation of economic sustainability of plans and project
  • The Cost Benefits Analysis (CBA): private approach

Second part

  • Applications of Cost-Benefit Analysis with a "private" approach: case studies

The student will develop, individually or in groups, an exercise on the Cost-Benefit Analysis of a property development intervention or energy retrofitting on an existing building

The exercise is mandatory for the exam.

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam is in written form.

The student will have to answer four open questions on the theoretical and operational tools discussed in class.

The duration of the written test is two hours.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The assessment of the learning by the student of the theoretical and operational tools takes place:

  • through the evaluation of the exercise (compulsory) carried out individually or in groups that aims to ascertain the learning and the ability to apply the theoretical tools treated in class;
  • through the evaluation of the written test that aims to ascertain the learning of the theoretical and operational tools discussed in the course.
