OVERVIEW

Philosophy of interfaith dialog aims at exploring the paths towards a hermeneutic approach to the relationships between different religions; its ultimate goal is finding a meeting point for dialog and mutual benefit. The antecedents of philosophy of interfaith dialog are the imaginary dialogs between representatives of different religions, a popular theme in European philosophy (see Saint Justin, Abelard, Nicholas of Cusa, Bodin, Lessing...).

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students will learn to set a philosophical discourse as a possible meeting point for an interfaith dialog that overcomes apologetic and polemic positions; starting from common questions, which are fundamental to human existence, several answers - from several traditions - will be compared. Seminars will enable students to analyze a few classics of this field, and to compare them to contemporary positions and debates.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students will develop their critical thinking and their philosophical consciousness regarding the theme of contemporary religious pluralism.
