Knowledge of the specific character of the medieval romance literature and of its principals genres, through a direct contact with the original texts.

PREREQUISITES

Fundamental notions on medieval history, linguistics, literary criticism, classical civilization.

TEACHING METHODS

Dialogue frontal lessons. Individual and / or small group exercises where possible. Use of media where consistent with the topics developed in the class.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Introduction to philology and interpretation of literary texts of the romance Middle Ages and their cultural traditions.

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam takes the form of an oral interview.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The student at the exam is asked questions about the course contents to ascertain the knowledge reached, the ability to expose with linguistic appropriateness and argumentative consistency, methodological mastery and sure critical orientation.

Attending students will study texts as indicated in 6 or 9 CFU program, as well as the topics and literary works covered in the lessons (see bibliography).

Non-attending students will study (in any case by agreement with the teacher), in addition to texts as indicated in 6 or 9 CFU program, three literary works of choice (from a list provided separately) or two literary works and one of the advised essays (from a list provided separately).
