In the theorical module the diacronic evolution of the Scandinavian languages will be taken into consideration. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES Building on the skills acquired during the Bachelor's degree, the course aims at teaching the students how to use the Swedish language in advanced contexts. In order to to this, the course is divided into two parts: a one-semester linguistics module and a two-semester practical language module AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The linguistic module aims at presenting comparatively the diacronic evolution of the Scandinavian languages, thus providing the Swedish language and culture student with the tools for a basic understanding of the other Scandinavian languages. The practical language module aims at bringing students to the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in reading, listening, speaking and writing. At the end of the course, the students will be able to understand a wide range of demanding, longer clauses, recognizing their implicit meaning, to express fluently their ideas without much searching for expressions, to use the language flexibly and effectlvely for social, academic and professional purposes, to produceclear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices. PREREQUISITES A linguistic competence equivalent to the B2 level of the Common European Framework. TEACHING METHODS During the first semester both the theoretical and the practical part will be held online on Teams and Aulaweb. In the second semester the language classes will be in presence, unless differently indicated SYLLABUS/CONTENT The theoretical part will deal with: 1. Similarities and differences among Swedish, Norwegian and Danish The annual practical course will focus on the reading and comment of complex texts, on reading and listening exercises and on the production of both oral and written argumentative texts. A monolingual dictionary can be used during this part of the exam. Speaking skills are assessed in a oral conversation on current themes and events. The theoretical module is assessed in an oral exam - in either Italian or Swedish according to the candidate's preference - on the topics of the course. ASSESSMENT METHODS The oral exam on the linguistics module will deal with the most significant features of the phonology, morphology, syntax and vocabulary of the Scandinavian languages in their historical phases, on the periodization problems, as well as on the syncronic relationship between the Scandinavian languages. The practical exam will verify the candidate's ability to understand and produce highly complex texts both in written and in spoken form.
