AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

This course aims at providing students with specialised competence in English linguistics and translation both from a theoretical and a practical point of view. It also aims to look at various text typologies and their characteristics and to promote critical awareness of the translating strategies and linguistic tools identified during the course.

TEACHING METHODS

The theoretical module is made up of 30 hours (3 hours over 10 weeks). It will be held in class unless the developments of the Covid situation impose different arrangements.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The theoretical module is held in English. It applies stylistic principles and theoretical notions to source text and target text analysis. Different text types are dealt with and translated by students, mainly from English into Italian. Students' participation in the activities proposed in this module and in class discussion is highly recommended.
