Good knowledge of basic refrigeration cycles (Rankine, absorption) are achieved. Refrigeration technology is also studied with particular reference to vapor compression and absorption refrigeration systems and the main criteria for their design and operation optimization.

The methods for assessing the knowledge acquired by the student consist of a structured oral test on the two core subjects of the course, which are vapour expansion refrigeration systems and absorption systems. Depending on the development of the course, there may be monographic study activities developed by the students, on the basis of lecturer's suggestions. Usually in this second module the use of design and optimization tools is required too.
