The course aims to foster understanding by students of clinical conditions that characterize psychopathology in adolescence. They will, therefore, discuss the concepts of normality and pathology, structure and personality urging a critical understanding of the various models of interpretation.
It will finally outlined the characteristics, the etiology and psychodynamics of the main diagnostic pictures through the presentation and discussion of several clinical cases useful to deepen the main forms of psychopathology
The course offers the student an introduction to issues related to adolescent psychopathology, highlighting the diagnostic difficulties related to this specific phase of the life cycle in which it is difficult to discriminate typical and atypical behaviors. The aims and procedures of assessment are then addressed. The objectives of the course are linked to the profile of psychologists professionals who will be able to work in the area of developmental age. In this perspective, we intend: a) to provide knowledge on the individual, contextual, and cultural components of psychopathology, b) to illustrate the protective and risk factors related to different evolutionary trajectories.
Students who have passed the exam will be able to recognize the clinical picture of psychopathological syndromes most common in adolescence by performing a differential diagnosis.
The teaching will consist of a combination of traditional lectures with slides and video, as well as presentations and discussion of clinical cases both in small and large groups. A critical and active participation of the students will be encouraged
The course introduces the student to the aspects of mental functioning in various forms of mental disorder in adolescence. The methodology of clinical and diagnostic evaluation is addressed. In particular, auto and heterodirect aggressive behavior, intentional self-harm, antisocial and deviant behavior and personality disorders will be studied.

PSYCHOPATHOLOGY OF ADOLESCENCE
The exam procedure is in written form, followed by electronic registration, normally in the subsequent appeal.
If requested, the exam can be taken in English for foreign students.
There is a written exam (3/4 questions)
Each part is assigned a mark and the sum of these marks is converted into thirtieths to give the final grade.
Students with DSA certification, disability or other special educational needs are advised to contact the teacher at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching and examination methods that, in compliance with the objectives of the course, take into account individual learning patterns and provide appropriate compensatory tools.
