The course aims to provide theoretical and empirical knowledge to understand the role of communication in the dynamics of change, planning and development of the territory.The course presents the main theoretical and methodological references for the study of the geographic mobility of goods, people and information, on the assumption that the land is the unit formed by the objects and the subjects located on the Earth's surface and the vertical and horizontal relationships connecting them to the ground and between them.
The course aims at bringing to the fore the strategic role played by communication in territories' and local communities' development.
Attendance and active participation in the proposed training activities and individual study will enable the student to acquire adequate knowledge regarding the main tools of the geography of communication. These skills will allow the student to develop critical skills in this regard of the main conceptual categories of the geography of communication.
Basics of geography
The teaching consists of lectures for a total of 54 hours. The use of multimedia supports is foreseen.
The course aims to stimulate the acquisition of skills in the field of communication as well as cultural and territorial marketing; favor the acquisition of critical skills on the use of cartography in the media (imaginary cartography) and in civil society (participatory and collaborative cartography); train students to identify and critically analyze the relationships between literature, cinema and territory.

GEOGRAPHY OF COMMUNICATION
Written quiz exam.
Details on how to prepare for the exam and the degree of depth of each topic will be given during the lessons. The written test for attending students and the oral interview for non-attending students have the task of verifying that the student has learned to use the main conceptual categories of the geography of communication, as well as acquired the specific scientific vocabulary.
