The Course provides information on the prevention and promotion of health, indications and contraindications to physical activity, deepen social and psychological aspects and those affecting the quality of life. The practical part of the course provides the specific information needed to be able to deal with the planning and development of motor sport sessions with competence.
The aim of the course is to study the methodological path of motor activities with its peculiarities during senescence, and correlate it to: - the paraphysiological state of fragility of elderly people, - post-pneumatic functional residues, Motor skills residual post-disease (neurological, motor, dismetabolic), cognitive and learning skills of the subject, - design the possible motor path for each disability category of the elderly.
The aim of the course is to provide the student with the theoretical and technical-operational knowledge of the basic physical activity to maintain the autonomy of the elderly person, also through sports activities. This latter agreement, like any physical activity which, through an organized or non-organized participation, aims to express or improve the physical and mental condition, develop social relations or obtain results in competitions of different levels. The student must be able to program a protocol of single and group work in the short and long term, both in the gym and in the natural environment, bearing in mind the psychomotor, social, environmental and relational aspects of the age itself and to promote physical activity as a primary element in the prevention and conservation of health and autonomy.

Index of Old Age. The geragogy. Theories of Aging. Primary, secondary and tertiary aging. Ageism. Anatomical and functional changes in physiological aging. Motor activity in old age: advantages and risks related to training. Optimized forms of physical exercises, such as prevention of functional limitations and improvement of the quality of life. Prevention of falls in the elderly. Intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Balance, motor and postural patterns. Physical activity as a prevention of osteoporosis. Which sport activity: indications and contraindications to the practice. From a sedentary lifestyle to the first forms of guided physical activity: examples of activities for everyone, from recreational activity, leisure, amateur, to competitive sports. Balance, strength and endurance in the elderly, training in the elderly and evaluation tests. Dual task test.
