CODE 101318 ACADEMIC YEAR 2020/2021 CREDITS 9 cfu anno 2 SCIENZE DELLA COMUNICAZIONE 8752 (L-20) - SAVONA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR M-PSI/01 LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION SAVONA SEMESTER 1° Semester TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW The course provides an overview of psychology as an empirical science of the human mind and behaviour, and aims to deepen specific topics of today's psychology, with particular reference to human communication. The second part of the course will focus on organizational communication issues. Some practical activities will be proposed during the semester, with presentations and group discussions. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The module aims to provide a wide perspective on general psychology, with a focus on communication and its multifaceted aspects: interpersonal, organisational, social communication, marketing and technology-mediated communication. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the semester students will be able to: - understand problems related to general psychology (the main mental processes) and the dynamics of interpersonal communication. - apply the acquired knowledge and understand and solve problems related to psychology. - use knowledge of psychology with autonomous evaluation skills and with skills in different application contexts; - use the technical jargon of the discipline to communicate clearly and effectively with specialist and non-specialist interlocutors. - develop adequate learning skills that will allow them to continue to explore the main themes of the discipline autonomously, especially in the working contexts in which they will be working. - explain the main communication dynamics within an organisation - explain the principles for effective social communication - apply the principles of effective communication to a case study. TEACHING METHODS The course will be offered entirely remotely, in hybrid format with synchronous and asynchronous teaching. There will be balanced frontal lessons, group work (project-based learning, case-based learning), individual and group content exploration activities, and activities aimed at assessing the acquisition of content during the semester. Due to the Covid-19 Emergency, any additional oral examination are at the teacher's discretion and only in specific and justified cases. ASSESSMENT METHODS For students attending classes (at least 70% of the lesson hours): written test (computer-based multiple-choice and completion quiz) at the end of the course, which focuses on the materials, and on what is covered during the lessons and not covered by the texts, including audio/video material. The degree of participation in class activities will also be taken into account for the final evaluation. An additional oral examination is at the teacher's discretion and can only be arranged in specific and justified cases. For students who not attending classes: written test (multiple-choice quiz test and computer completion).
