The course deals with historiographic themes and problems in relation to the 15th-19th centuries, from the time of the great geographical explorations to the Restoration.
Analysing fundamental themes and issues of modern history by presenting different historiographical interpretations and perspectives. Illustrating historical research methods and procedures also by working with sources in order to stimulate a critical approach and an initial knowledge of criteria used to build historiographical discourses

As far as learning outcomes are concerned, the student, at the end of the course, will be able to understand a text of history and historiography of the modern age, discuss it and insert it into the current scientific debate. The student must also have developed disciplinary skills, as well as basic knowledge of the subject.
To know how to read and communicate correctly in Italian. have acquired the basic historical knowledge of the secondary school. If necessary, be able to read a text in a foreign language of the European Union in addition to your mother tongue.

MODERN HISTORY
The test will be oral in the form of an interview with questions relating to the content of the texts listed in the bibliography.
If possible, a voluntary written test will be considered for the first module programme (Criscuolo manual).
In the examination, which will be held orally, the candidate will be asked to explain one or more specific topics contained in the texts indicated. The candidate will be asked to illustrate these topics critically, in a correct and articulate manner and using appropriate language. The ability to establish significant links with other topics dealt with in the same text or addressed during the lessons will also be tested.
In case of a written test, the first 6 cfu will be acquired by passing a written test that will include a grid of questions on some fundamental themes of modern history (open questions).
Due to the organisation of the course, class attendance is strongly recommended.
