The course aims to give students the basic knowledge and skills for collecting and organising data, developing, using the knowledge gained during their studies and suitable applications, analyses of economic data and information and, sharing the reports/documents generated.
The course will take place during the second semester in a PC classroom at the Department of Economics through in-person lessons and practical exercises to be carried out individually and/or in teams. The course can be attended by a maximum of 24 students. If the students enrolled exceeds this threshold, the following selection criteria will be adopted: passing the IT knowledge and skills exam, the number of credits obtained and the average mark. The commitment required in terms of attendance corresponds to 75% of the lessons.
The course will be organised in four blocks of lessons dealing respectively with the collection, organisation, management and communication of data and information. In particular, the lessons will focus on: - the collection of primary (survey) and secondary data (through access to specific databases, public or subscribed to by the University); - the organisation of data in a way that is suitable for processing; - the analysis of data through tools and applications capable of enhancing their informative power; - the communication of the analysis results and the available/produced documents through applications capable of creating and sharing reports, presentations and multimedia contents.
The material prepared by the lecturer, used in class, and the supporting material, which may be made available on the course website and/or accessible online, will be used for exam preparation.

By the time the student takes the examination, s/he must have passed the computer knowledge and skills examination. The student's preparation will be assessed through a practical test based on the course programme. To pass the test, the student must carry out activities concerning the collection, organisation, analysis and communication of data.
The assessment is a pass-or-fail examination.
Details on how to apply for the exam and the degree of depth of each topic will be given during the lessons.
Within the limits of the University's didactic regulations, students may repeat the examination at least twice during the academic year.
