AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the course the students will acquire basic knowledge and skills in the field of human geography. In particular they will concern: the relations between the socio-political organization of a territory and the formation of a landscape, the knowledge of the demographic dynamics and their relations with the development processes. The students will also acquire basic knowledge on the geographical distribution of the main religious and linguistic phenomena. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the course, the students will be able: - To understand and synthesize the main concepts and themes within the Human Geography. - To know the main methods of geographical survey and the tools used by geographers. - To summarize the underlying reasons of action of human communities in relation to the physical conformation of the territory. - To understand the motivations for a new distribution of the world’s languages, ethnicities and religions. - To understand and analyse the landscape in urban and rural areas. PREREQUISITES No specific prerequisites are required TEACHING METHODS The lessons will hopefully be held face-to-face, with the possibility for students to follow at a distance (in case of distance lessons via videoconference on the Teams platform, the access code will be provided here). - Lectures with slide and video projection and discussion; - reading and analysis of maps, graphic and pictorial images, and photographic comparisons. The test be timed, and will consist of the following items: multiple choice questions and open questions; some questions will be based on graphs, tables, thematic maps. The test will be distinguished according to the program for attending and non-attending students. The test is passed with a minimum score of 18 points. ASSESSMENT METHODS The Test will evaluate: - knowledge of the main basic concepts and theoretical references treated in class and present in the study texts; - knowledge of the main aspects, processes and problems faced by human geography; - knowledge of the main tools and methods of human geography; - the ability to read graphs, tables, thematic maps. The assessment will take into account: - the accuracy and completeness of the foreground; - synthesis and appropriate use of specialist vocabulary; - ability to argue and critical reasoning about the study carried out.
