OVERVIEW

The course is divided into three parts: the first is devoted to the definition of ethics, ethical competence, and the relationship between ethics and professional ethics; the second to the study of ethical issues relating to inequalities and social justice, with particular reference to the new inequalities brought about by globalisation; the relationship between merit and social justice, and equity; and the third to the analysis of poverty and its ethical and social implications.

AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

 

Knowledge: ethics and ethics applied; the relationship ethics - deontology; ethical issues related to inequalities and social justice

Skills: ability to analyse contexts according to ethical criteria with particular reference to social inequalities and poverty

Competences: implementation and development of ethical competence as a basic competence; development of the relational dimension based on listening and needs analysis; analysis and resolution of moral dilemmas. 

TEACHING METHODS

1. Lectures, at the beginning of the course, aimed at providing the conceptual tools, key words and expressions  

2. Interactive lessons based on students' questions and request. it is, also, provided lessons peer to peer

Lectures will be supported with the use of slides and documents that will be published on the AulaWeb 

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course is divided into three parts: the first is an introduction to ethics; the second is an analysis of the relationship between equality, inequality, social justice and that between justice, merit and equity; and the third is an analysis of poverty from the modern age to the present day and its social and ethical implications.

Oral

Examination intends to verify knowledge, skills and competencies acquired by students

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The exam is divided into two phases:

1. Test on the book  Etica , Giustizia, diseguaglianze                                                                                                                            2.Test on the book L'invenzione della povertà. Dall’economia della salvezza ai diritti sociali; test on the additional book for not attending students

Inside of both phases is provide for discussion of ethically significant  case studies
The students must obtain a score of at least 18/30 in each of the two phases
