This course aims to introduce the various materials used in a design project as well as their technical properties, performance characteristics, and methods of use. The technological and productive dimension of the materials is presented as a dynamic variable, providing the designer with a real resource to achieve significant results in the fields of industrial and nautical design.
This course aims to provide students with the tools to understand and analyze the macro-families of contemporary, traditional and new generation materials. The course will also introduce the use of databases to find information on the different materials, allowing designers to make appropriate project choices. Students are expected to reach awareness as to how to appropriately choose materials and acquire an adequate methodology. Specifically, by the end of the course students will have knowledge of the main classes of materials and their respective casting technologies, as well as surface finishing techniques and being able to choose the appropriate materials according to the project's requirements.
