This course, 9 hours 1CFU, is the integration of the FIRE SAFETY DESIGN course. In this course we deepen some aspects for the simulation of active components, such as smoke detectors, Heat and smoke forced extraction systems, etc., in a fire scenario.
Students will improve the ability to run detailed fire scenario simulations, using CFast or FDS.
The student will develop the capability of simulating detection/extinction devices, to be used in software for Fire Dynamic Simulation such as FDS or CFAST Safety Engineering
100% of the course (9 hours) will consist in tutorial activities devoted to improve students skills in Fire Dynamic Simulations
Detection/extinction devices in FDS

The oral examination consists in the discussion of the use of the special equipments included in the small project of Fire Safety Engineering, prepared by students.
Students with SLD, disability or other regularly certified special educational needs are advised to contact the instructor at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching and examination methods that, in compliance with the course objectives, take into account the individual learning requirements.
During the examination the students will defend their design of the use of special devices, included in the small project of Fire Safety Engineering, prepared by students.
