If you enrolled in A.Y. 2023/2024 or earlier years go to: ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING 9914 ENGINEERING FOR BUILDING RETROFITTING 10719 The course in brief Presentation The Study Course in Building Engineering trains a professional figure capable of managing the design/construction processes of new construction works and the maintenance/rehabilitation of existing ones with a multidisciplinary approach in which strong technical and scientific skills are integrated with design and management skills. The study course provides two tracks: one track in Italian (Building and Urban Systems), mainly aimed at the design/construction of new building and urban interventions a track in English (Building Retrofitting), mainly oriented towards the renovation of existing buildings with particular attention to safety and sustainability aspects Learning by doing The course combines face-to-face teaching with operational and application-oriented exercises and workshops. Experiences that foster contact with the working world, also at international level, are an integral part of the training, such as: projects and workshops curricular traineeships in companies in the sector, which may be carried out in Italy or in another EU country visits to companies, visits to construction sites and thematic seminars. Professional outlets A graduate in Building Engineering gives access, after passing the State Examination, to the Order of Engineers, in the 'Civil and Environmental' Sector. The professional outlets are: free profession design activity in engineering or architectural firms technical activity in private companies operating in the building sector technical functionary in public administrations researcher in universities and research centres What you will learn Structural design design of structures and geotechnical works for buildings and the city Structural Security safety assessment of existing buildings and design of consolidation measures Energy efficiency design of new energy-efficient buildings and energy upgrades of existing buildings Installations and solutions for living comfort design of systems and technical solutions for comfort in buildings and urban spaces Building infrastructure design of facilities and infrastructure for the efficient and sustainable management of buildings and cities Designing buildings and the city design of building and town planning interventions with attention to the cultural context and needs of contemporary society Building renovation design of interventions for the renovation of existing buildings History and Restoration knowledge of architectural history and awareness of the value and complexity of historic buildings Procurement law and economics knowledge of the regulatory process of construction works and site management Contents The training course comprises three core learning areas: Structural and geotechnical design Design of building installations and infrastructure Construction and urban planning design It also includes a number of cross-curricular courses in the fields of surveying and representation, estimating, site process management and administrative, town planning, building, structural and plant engineering legislation. Coordinator Image I am the Coordinator of the Bachelor of Engineering in Building Engineering. The course stems from the idea that engineering plays a fundamental role in designing, transforming and preserving the world in which we live and inhabit. We need to train engineers who are experts in buildings and construction, who have an in-depth knowledge of their distributive, functional, structural, technical and plant engineering aspects, but at the same time have an awareness of the social, economic and environmental impacts of their work Chiara Calderini Read more Engineering Student Desk Villa Cambiaso Via Montallegro, 1 inside the park of Villa Cambiaso - in front of lecture hall A7sportello.ingegneria@unige.itopening hours, services offered, etc. Reference for Education (DICCA) Viale Cambiaso 6/canc - ground floor Simona Grillodidattica.dicca@unige.it Course Coordinator Chiara Calderinichiara.calderini@unige.it
