At the end of the course, students will develop the following skills: 1) critical knowledge of the main theories of psychological development; 2) ability to associate skills and psychological processes to the appropriate age and developmental stage; 3) communication skills and appropriate use of technical vocabulary and language.
Students will be encouraged to participate actively.
The program includes: the definition of the discipline, the history of the discipline, the main theoretical approaches, methods of investigation, the knowledge gained up to now with respect to the psychological development throughout life (concerning the phisical and motor, the perceptual, the cognitive, the moral, the social and emotional domains), with particular attention to childhood. It also includes: the development of family, specifically, the familiar processes, the concept of “parenting”, the relationships between parents and choldren/adolescents, the “new” families, taking charge of the family.
Furthermore, some practical implications for conducting interviews with children, adolescents and families will be provided.

Oral
The oral test will aim to evaluate the contents and skills acquired. In particular, the acquisition of specific contents will be mainly evaluated (e.g. development phases of different skills; development theories); expository clarity, the use of technical language and the ability to critically analyze acquired theories and concepts.
