The student must learn the main anatomic and physiologic aspects of the Central Nervous system (CNS) and of the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) as well as the more important physio-pathological modification in case of neurologic diseases.
The student will know the main functions of the CNS and PNS and will acquire notions on the most prevalent neurological diseases. He will therefore have basic notions of anatomy and physiology of the nervous system and know the main pathological pictures related to the involvement of the cortico-spinal, cortico-bulbar, extra-pyramidal, sensitive, cerebellar, neuromuscular systems. Students will learn the essential aspects of the main neurological diseases (cerebrovascular diseases, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, extra-pyramidal syndromes, dementias, brain tumors, head trauma, neuromuscular diseases), in order to be aware of them when, during their work activities, they will treat subjects affected by such pathologies.
The program will be based on frontal lessons with presentation of videos of emblematic disease cases.
In case of certification of specific learning disability, disability or other special educational needs, please contact both the Department contact person, Prof. Nicola Girtler, and the lecturer at the beginning of the lectures to agree on teaching and exam methods which, in compliance of the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning methods and provide suitable compensatory/dispensatory tools recognized by the University SLD Student Service.

Each teacher will evaluate the student on his part of program and will give his score; at the end of the test, the Coordinator will provide the weighted mean of the separated scores and give to the student the global score. The student may refuse the result. In this case, the student must repeat the test in another session. The coordinator inserts the questions and the scores on the electronic recording system as soon as possible.
The student must demonstrate a basic knowledge of Neurology and must be able to understand the normal and pathological function of the Nervous System. It is also important that the student demonstrates a correct and specific terminology.
