The teaching consists of two independent modules of 6 credits each, aimed at providing principles and methods for the design of user interfaces characterised by multimodal full-body interaction, embodiment and immersiveness in non-verbal interaction, gamification and game design, virtual, augmented, and extented reality applications.
In the first module, after an introductory part on human perception (visual psychophysics, psychoacoustics, haptic perception, multimodal integration), and an introduction of sensor systems, the course introduces techniques to support the development process of interaction design for multimodal interfaces, with a focus on usability and quality of experience. The course is characterized by exercises and examples in the framework of real world application scenarios.
Objective of the second module is to provide students with skills in creating effective user-centered web pages, compliant to standards and following recent trends, based on the analysis of users’ needs, information architecture, usability and accessibility criteria, and functionalities.
