This laboratory intends to provide the main guidelines regarding the drafting of a technical report/degree thesis, moving on to their practical application considering a case study.
Theory will be focused on
- report/thesis structure and explanation of each section (introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions)
- research question and consistency, flow and relevance of your writing to research question
- contribution to knowledge (what's the gap in the literature?)
- providing evidence
- proofreading and editing
- writer's block
- writer-oriented writing vs reader-oriented writing
- connectors/linking words and formal writing style
- how to present your findings (public speaking inputs)
At the end of the activity, students will be able to:
- Organize the structure of the report
- Identify the objectives of the report, describe the methods chosen and present the objectives
- Select, present and debate methodologies and results

Each student will give a short presentation about his/her report, discussing the framework with the other student and the teacher, who will give feedback about the different sections (introduction, methodologies, results and discussions, conclusions).
The assessment will be based on the attitude to work in group, the involvement in the proposed activities, attendance of lessons (at least 12 hours out of 15), and the results.
