OVERVIEW

The internship of the second year of the course includes 575 hours of student activity in specialist laboratories of hospitals or local health authorities affiliated throughout the region with the University of Genoa in order to acquire skills with the purely practical activity envisaged by the profile of the technician of Biomedical Laboratory and the Manifesto of the studies of the course. The internship program is divided into specialist sectors in periods which provide for attendance of between two and five weeks of stay. Before the professional internship, students must acquire 1 preparatory laboratory credits with compulsory attendance.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Acquire knowledge and practical skills related to microbiology techniques, immunometry, bacteriology, electrophoresis and blood component management

PREREQUISITES

Have completed the 1st year internship and passed the relevant barrier exam. Have passed all the exams of the first year except for a non-preparatory integrated course as required by the teaching regulations.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

At the end of the curricular internship path with a positive result, the student will have to take the annual internship exam in September with the execution of laboratory tests.

The exam will take place in the teaching laboratory on the skills acquired during the preparatory laboratory and the curricular internship

Verification of the ability to perform laboratory tests with description of the techniques used and the purposes of the test for clinical-diagnostic investigations
