At the end of the lessons the student should be able to read and critically analyze a research in order to be able to evaluate the reliability of the results produced. TEACHING METHODS In-person lectures I don’t plan a separate syllabus for students who do not attend; however, I strongly recommend attending, especially in person SYLLABUS/CONTENT The course is structured into several modules: What it means to “do” scientific research. Planning the study and the empirical work: strategies in social-scientific research and types of research designs; main features of different research approaches. Planning the empirical work: ethnographic approach; hermeneutic-discursive approach; biographical approach; how survey data are built; questionnaire design; using scales to measure attitudes. Brief notes on sampling strategies and data analysis.
