AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to present the stages of evolution of intercultural geography, understood as a significant support in the complex construction of identity and understanding of otherness. Specific objectives are:
a) to understand the meaning of basic geographical concepts (space, territory, landscape, place, region);
b) to acquire adequate knowledge and an effective understanding of the cultural diversity of the various populations of the planet;
c) enabling students to apply the knowledge acquired and to understand and solve problems in different application contexts related to case studies on topics such as: current demographic dynamics, international and national migration, gender differences;
d) interpreting the socio-territorial dynamics that characterise different geographical regions;
e)  interpret the factors that determine the impact of human activities on the environment and landscape.
The learning outcomes will enable students to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to work in multi- and intercultural design contexts.

TEACHING METHODS

The course will be organised by alternating between lectures and participatory teaching.
Lectures will focus on identifying and understanding basic knowledge; participatory teaching will be based on problem-based strategies aimed at stimulating the ability to analyse certain issues relating to contemporary territorial processes.

The materials used during the lessons will be uploaded to AulaWeb along with other materials (reports, links to databases, etc.) aimed at exploring specific topics in greater depth.

For students with disabilities or a specific learning disorder (DSA).
Students with disabilities or DSA are reminded that in order to request
adaptations in the exam, it is first necessary to enter the certification on the University website at
page servizionline.unige.it in the "Students" section. The documentation will be checked by the
The University's Services Department for the Inclusion of Students with Disabilities and DSAs
(https://rubrica.unige.it/strutture/struttura/100111).
Subsequently, significantly in advance (at least 10 days) of the examination date, it is necessary to
send an e-mail to the teacher with whom you will be sitting the exam, including in copy
knowledge of both the School Contact Person for the inclusion of students with disabilities and with
DSA (laura.traverso@unige.it) as well as the sector indicated above using one of the following addresses
(disabili@unige.it; dsa@unige.it). The e-mail must specify
 the name of the teaching
 the date of the call
 the student's surname, first name and roll number
 the compensatory tools and dispensatory measures considered functional and required.
The contact person (Prof. Laura Traverso) will confirm to the teacher that the applicant has the right to
request adaptations during the examination and that these adaptations must be agreed upon with the teacher.

The contact person (Prof. Laura Traverso) will confirm to the teacher that the applicant is entitled to
request adaptations in the examination and that these adaptations must be agreed with
the lecturer. The lecturer will respond by stating whether the requested adaptations can be used.
Requests must be sent at least 10 days before the date of the exam in order to
enable the lecturer to assess their content. In particular, if you intend to
use concept maps for the exam (which must be much more concise than the
maps used for study) if the submission does not respect the timeframe there will not be the technical time
necessary to make any changes, which may be requested by the teacher.
For more information on requesting services and adaptations, please refer to the document:
Guidelines for requesting services, compensatory tools and/or dispensatory measures and
