CODE 111294 ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026 CREDITS 3 cfu anno 3 SERVIZIO SOCIALE 8710 (L-39) - GENOVA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR IUS/01 LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA SEMESTER 2° Semester MODULES Questo insegnamento è un modulo di: VIOLENZA DI GENERE E TUTELA DEI DIRITTI FONDAMENTALI AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to provide students and future workers with a knowledge of the fundamental rights of people (right to life, health, personal dignity, confidentiality, non-discrimination) and of their protection in the national legal system, with references to the European and international framework, focusing even on women and children rights protection. The training course also provides basic skills and tools on Alternative Dispute Resolution to avoid litigation - where admissible - in the aim of finding conciliatory solutions and to ensure civil coexistence. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The aim of the course is to provide students and future workers with specific skills, such as: - Knowing and identifying the fundamental rights of individuals, such as the right to life, health, personal dignity, privacy, and non-discrimination; - Understanding the systems of protection within the national legal framework, as well as the European and international regulatory context, with a particular focus on the protection of the rights of women and children; - Acquiring competence and familiarity in the use of basic tools in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), in order to avoid litigation – where admissible – with a view to conciliatory solutions and the promotion of civil coexistence. TEACHING METHODS The course is based on lectures, as well as workshops and practical labs, in order to provide students with theoretical knowledge and, at the same time, allow them to apply it through the analysis of real-life cases. SYLLABUS/CONTENT In the module Human Rights and Conflict Prevention Tools, which is part of the course on gender-based violence and the protection of fundamental rights, the program focuses on the study of Italian and European legislation, with particular reference to the protection of rights, the provisions of the Codice Rosso, as well as to systems of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Class schedule The timetable for this course is available here: Portale EasyAcademy EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION The oral exam will allow for the assessment of the acquisition of knowledge regarding legislative regulation, the ability to apply legal rules to concrete situations, and the use of technical language. The practical cases and the intermediate test are intended to assess the knowledge acquired at the end of each module. ASSESSMENT METHODS During the course, students will have the option to write a short paper on a topic agreed upon with the course Professor. The presentation of the paper will be evaluated as part of the oral examination. The oral exam aims to assess the skills acquired during the two modules of the course through questions concerning the topics covered in class and the materials provided on the Aulaweb platform.
