This 36-hour, 6-CFU course is intended mainly for third-year Modern Languages and Cultures students taking the Languages and Cultures for Business and Tourism Curriculum. It is, however, open to all students who have passed the first and second years of Swedish Language.
The course is designed to provide students with the lexical, syntactic, and stylistic skills necessary to properly understand specialized texts in Swedish and to translate them accurately. Special attention will be given to the languages of Economics, IT, Politics, Environment, and Tourism.
A B2 vocabulary level in Economics, IT, Politics, Environment and Tourism.
The main topics of the course will include: principles of terminology, basics of lexicology and lexicography, translation of specialized texts, terminology in the fields of economics, finance, politics, tourism, arts, and gastronomy, as well as formal styles.
By the end of the course, students will be able to understand written specialized texts in the fields of economics and tourism and translate them into Italian.
Swedish language I and II
The course consists of weekly classroom lectures (3 hours per week over 12 weeks during the second semester).

The 36-hour teaching plan provides 6 CFU.
This course equips students with the necessary tools to understand and translate various types of practical, specialized texts from Swedish into Italian.
There is no separate syllabus for non-attending students. Students with disabilities or other special educational needs are advised to contact the teacher at the beginning of the course to agree on appropriate teaching and examination methods, and to arrange suitable compensatory tools.
Lecture materials will be provided during class and will also be accessible via Google Drive and Aulaweb in the second semester.

SWEDISH FOR SPECIAL PURPOSES
Mainly oral (see Assessment Methods)
The exam consists of an oral test at the end of the semester involving the translation of a few brief texts (in the fields of Economics, Business Administration, Politics, Art, Tourism or IT) from Swedish to Italian, and a check of their lexical/terminological skills in these fields. Before the oral test, there is a brief written test on translation skills.
Attendance is not compulsory but strongly recommended.
