AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

In the field of Audiometric Sciences and Techniques, deepening of knowledge relating to the area of ​​the three-year degree course of origin, and learning of the basic concepts of the areas of the other three-year degree courses pertaining to the Master's Degree course class III health professions diagnostic techniques.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Aim of the course is the clinical framing of Audiometic methods and procedures, with specific attention on differential diagnosis, diagnostic autonomy, and knowledge of the various therapeutic options

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures

Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to liase and arrange the specific teaching methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes.

Fundamentals of audiometry (anatomy, physiology and main instrumental tests)

Fundamentals of vestibology (anatomy, physiology and main instrumental tests)

Organization of the audiology outpatient service (management of spaces and personnel, instruments)

Regulations in the field of hearing loss / anacusia

Prosthetic prescription process

Cochlear implant

Oral examination.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Oral examination allows to assess the degree of preparation of the students, the correctness of the vocabulary with special reference to technical jargon as well.  Students have to demonstrate the ability to actively apply the knowledge acquired during the course through reasoning and synthesis.
