OVERVIEW

The course addresses the quality of industrial systems as the capability to understand, measure, control and improve the performance of production systems through the integration of quality, safety and environment.

The course proposes a systemic view of industrial system quality, considering quality, safety and operational sustainability as complementary dimensions in the management and improvement of industrial performance.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to provide students with conceptual and methodological tools to understand, evaluate and improve industrial system performance through the 3 dimensions of quality, safety and related environmental implications.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Deatailed aims:

• understanding the principles of system quality;
• analysis of safety, risk and reliability;
• understanding environmental aspects in industrial systems;
• ability to interpret indicators and performance;
• integration of quality, safety and environment in production systems.

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

• understand principles and tools for system quality;
• interpret performance indicators and KPIs;
• understand relationships among risk, hazard and damage;
• understand principles of reliability and safety systems;
• interpret regulatory and technical compliance aspects;
• understand industrial impacts and environmental prevention;
• critically discuss integrated quality–safety–environment issues.

PREREQUISITES

None.

TEACHING METHODS

The course is organized through interactive lectures, discussion of case studies, technical insights and applied exercises.

Attendance is recommended.

Classes will be supported by teaching materials in both Italian and English.
