Of some of these, the methods of obtaining and specific applications are presented. TEACHING METHODS The course consists of four lectures, each lasting two hours. Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department ( Prof. Luca Raiteri, Luca.Raiteri@unige.it ) before class begins, in order to liaise and arrange the specific learning methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Topics covered by elective course: 1) differences between traditional drug and biotechnological drug. 2) placing on the market of a biotechnological drug. 3) placing on the market of a biosimilar biotechnological drug. 4) biotechnological drugs for autoimmune diseases, hepatitis and multiple sclerosis (interferons). 5) gene therapy: examples of biotechnological drugs. 6) biotechnology drugs. for rare diseases.
