SEMESTER 2° Semester

OVERVIEW

The teaching unit will provide knowledge about the main electrotechnical applications, from generation to transmission, distribution and final use.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

- electrical machines
- the main power electronic components and the most common converters
- power systems, with special emphasis to the aspects concerning its evolution, connected to the energy transition (energy mix, integration of renewable sources in the power network, decentralized energy resources, microgrids)

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • To have a basic knowledge of electrical machines and their drives that are most suitable for an application.
  • To describe the evolution of systems for the generation, transmission, distribution, and use of electrical energy in relation to major technological developments.

PREREQUISITES

The teaching unit does not require specific prerequisites. However, the knowledge acquired during the teaching unit Electrotechnics are useful.

TEACHING METHODS

Frontal lectures presenting theory and practical applications.

Students with a certified learning disability (DSA), a disability, or other special educational needs are invited to contact the instructor at the beginning of the course to discuss teaching and examination arrangements that, while respecting the learning objectives of the course, take individual learning needs into account and provide appropriate accommodations.
Please also note that requests for exam accommodations or exemptions must be submitted using the form available at this link
https://modulionline.unige.it/richiesta-adattamenti#no-back , to the course professor, the DIME contact person (federico.scarpa@unige.it), and the relevant office (inclusione.studenti@info.unige.it) at least seven working days before the examination, in accordance with the guidelines available at this link  https://unige.it/disabilita-dsa/richiesta-servizi

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Oral discussin on the theory and applications presented during the teaching activity.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Students will be evaluated on theoretical topics presented during the teaching unit and realistic problems proposed during the teaching unit.

The final exam will be oral.

The assessment of learning outcomes will be based on:

  1.  the ability to describe and explain theoretical concepts (clarity of exposition, use of terminology);
  2. the ability to critically analyze the obtained results.
