AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The module is proposed as the basis to the issues of industrial design and fits in with the basic knowledge of physics, chemistry, science and technology of materials. In addition to setting methodology of industrial design is oriented to the development of the student elementary procedures of mechanical design

LEARNING OUTCOMES (FURTHER INFO)

Although the lectures will be delivered in Italian, the Lecturer can provide a comprehensive collection of teaching materials in English to prepare for the final exam and the individual project. The teacher will support foreign students in the comprehension of specific aspects concerning different items, making available technical references, standards and other necessary data. The discussion of the project and the final exam can be taken in English.

TEACHING METHODS

Combination of traditional lectures (approx. 50 hours) and classroom discussion of the project selected by each student (approx. 10 hours).

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Basic elements of the design approaches.

Understanding of technical drawings.

Fundamentals of functional mechanics and technical drawing.

Criteria and selection procedures of standard components.

Selection of construction materials.

Each student will develop a project concerning the design of a simplified mechanical component.
