The course provides students with a great opportunity to learn more about commercial software tools in the analysis and simulation of thermal systems. Briefly, the students will achieve skills in the use of software devoted to the solution of a large selection of practical problems: from thermodynamics to simple fluid dynamics applications, to lumped analysis of thermal systems (electro-thermal analogy).
Lessons will be given in the informatic room of the faculty
Students are encouraged to form little work groups (max 3 students). During the course period, these groups will face various thermal problems, will solve them and complete short relations about used methodology and obtained results.
Thermodynamic and heat transfer recalls:
- general conservation equations, boundary conditions
- numerical techniques, error propagation
Software use:
- thermodynamics cycles (e.g. EES)
- thermo-fluid dynamics simulations (e.g. Comsol)
- lamped thermal systems analisys and solution (e.g. Microcap)

THERMAL SYSTEMS ANALYSIS AND SIMULATION
Examination is aimed to verify and evaluate the personal ability of the student in the solution of practical heat transfer problems by means of commercial software tools.
Pre-requisites :
Mathematical analysis 1, General physics, Applied Thermodynamics, Energetics and Heat Transfer.
