Ability to intersect and apply knowledge learnt in the courses of Meccanica applicata alle machine (Theory of mechanisms and machines) and Elementi costruttivi delle macchine (Fundamentals of machine design). Skills in the organization and development of a project and the preparation of technical reports. Ability to consider the level of production of an engineering component or system during its definition and design. TEACHING METHODS Frontal lectures and computer training. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The course provides basic knowledge on design of mechanical systems. It comprises the use of CAD-CAE tools for geometric modelling and functional design and the selection of typical commercial mechanical components (actuators, gears, belts, brakes, joints, bearings). One of the goals is to make students able to participate in activities of mechanical design applying a systemic and interdisciplinary approach, intersecting knowledge learnt in the prerequisite courses.
