The “Spanish Linguistics” course given in the second semester is a predominantly practical course that requires continuous attendance of lessons and autonomous learning with weekly practical exercises. Therefore, it is not recommended to include this course in the curriculum for students who cannot attend lessons or work independently on a regular basis.
The course aims to encourage and develop the autonomy of learners, future translators, interpreters and mediators in researching and using the different resources available online to document and solve problems related to Applied Linguistics. Some examples are: lexicographic sources, terminology, corpora of oral and written texts, morphological databases and the tools of Combinatorial Linguistics.
The course aims to promote the acquisition of digital, linguistic, lexicographic, terminological and documentation skills to solve problems related to translation, interpretation and textual revision.

The examination shall consist of a written test. However, students who have attended the lessons and regularly completed the tasks (individual and group assignments), having clearly acquired the skills, may be exempted from taking the final exam with a final mark agreed upon with the teacher.
The written test shall be divided into two parts. In the first one, translation challenges will have to be overcome; in the second one, a text in Spanish will be revised. In both tasks of the examination students must explain the documentation process followed, the resources consulted, and the choices made.
