The course is a 6-credits-course consisting of a theoretical module of 30 hours (held in the 2nd semester) dealing with the history of German linguistics from the beginning to the recent theories;
At the end of the theoretical module students will possess a theoretical overview of the linguistic thought in Germany and of its development over time.
The goal of the applied module is the attainment of instrumental competence of German corresponding to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The theoretical module will be partly in form of frontal lessons and partly in form of seminars.
Topics covered in the theoretical module are as follows :
- description of the theoretical and applied studies of language in Germany from the beginning to recent theories;
- chronological overview of positions and works on philosophy of language, grammaticography, lexicography, language maintenance, language criticism.

An oral presentation (15 minute) based on a scientific paper with group discussion (5 minutes).
