Building on the skills acquired during the Bachelor's degree, the course aims at teaching the students how to use the Swedish language in advanced contexts. In order to to this, the course is divided into two parts: a one-semester linguistics module and a two-semester practical language module
The linguistic module aims at presenting the main trends in contemporary (spoken) Swedish.
The practical language module aims at bringing students to the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Frontal lectures and language practical classes
1. The Swedish language spoken by immigrants: vocabulary and linguistic strategies; analysis of real and literary texts.
2. Language in the suburbs: the case of the so-called Rinkebysvenska.
3. Youth culture and language: the situation in Stockholm.
4. Foreign (English) elements in Swedish slang.

SWEDISH LANGUAGE I
The linguistics module is assessed through an oral exam at the end of the course. The practical module is assessed at the end of the second semester through a written exam paper and an oral exam.
The oral exam on the linguistics module will deal with the most significant features of the phonology, morphology, syntax and vocabulary of the Scandinavian languages in their historical phases, on the periodization problems, as well as on the syncronic relationship between the Scandinavian languages.
