AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES Objective of the course, through its organization in two integrated modules, is to make the student a conscious user in the use of digital technologies; to provide him the theoretical basis and increase his operational capacity in relation to the provisions in the syllabus of the European Computer Driving Licence ( ECDL Core ); to provide him the theoretical and operational bases to manage information on the web via HTML, and also to provide the foundation web programming "client side". AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES Objective of the course , through its organization into two modules and through the articulation in lectures and hands-on experience (see section "Teaching methods"), is to provide students with basic knowledge on computer science from the point of view of a user of the technology, to provide students with the theoretical basis and to increase their operational capacity in relation to the provisions in the syllabus of the European Computer Driving Licence, to provide them with the theoretical and operational bases to manage information on the Web, and also to provide the basis for Web programming "client side". TEACHING METHODS The course, with its articulation into two modules, provides for two distinct categories of activities: Theoretical lecture ( Lecture - Lesson): educational activities in which the student is mainly "passive " , ie attending a lecture or practical application , in the classroom and through the tools provided by the education portal. Practical lessons (Hands-on experience): "assisted learning" component in which the student is predominantly "active", that is, run into the first person, guided activities in the laboratory. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The course is divided into two modules which provide two distinct categories of activities (see section "Teaching methods"). During the Theoretical Lessons explains the fundamentals of information technology from the point of view of a user of information technology. The main topics are: computational principles, the structure of a processor, processor architecture, basic software and operating systems, algorithms and programming languages, application software, Internet and computer networks and, finally, a brief analysis of the social aspects of and future computing evolution. Topics covered during the Hands-on activity are: use of individual-level computers and realization of structured electronic documents with personal productivity tools; use of HTML for building Web pages. In this regard will be made available to practice on individual productivity tools and basics for browsing and searching for information via Web, as provided in the syllabus of the European Driving Licence computers (ECDL) and tools for HTML programming. The Course organization scheme is of 12 CFU and 63 didactic units for a total of 300 hours of work-study. For each teaching unit are indicated references to deepen or to better frame the issues addressed. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY Suggested Books J.G. Brookshear, D. Brylow, Informatica.
