OVERVIEW

The Course includes a critical analysis of the most important maritime contracts, usually entered in the shipping world, for the purpose of appreciating the present trends in the rules governing such contracts both at national and international level.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course’ aim is to introduce the students to the knowledge of the most important maritime contracts represented by international forms which are at present available in the maritime market.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The Course is based on the study of the most important and recent forms, used in the shipping field, with the aim of considering the present trends - mostly international but even national - of maritime negotiations.

TEACHING METHODS

The Course is based on traditional lessons, Seminars and Workshops.

The texts of the foms are distributed in order to facilitate the discussion during the lessons.

Getting through previously the examination of Maritime Law is strongly suggested.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

After a presentation of the forms, of the negotiation rules and of the broker's activities, with reference to the ship sale markets as well as the dry and liquid cargoes, the following contracts are examined:

Shipbuilding Contracts

Shipsale Contracts

Shipmanagement Contracts

Bare boat charters and leasing of ships

Time charters (dry and liquid cargoes)

Voyage charters (dry and liquid cargoes)

Contracts of Affreightment

Carriages of Goods by Sea

Towage Contracts

Salvage at Sea Contracs.
