OVERVIEW

The course aims to provide the theoretical basis and practical skills, useful for the quantitative determination of substances of pharmaceutical interest, as well as the main methods in the preliminary stages of the sample preparation.

Quantitative analysis: tecniques to be used, sampling and sample preparation, proper application of the method, data analysis and reporting. Related applications in Medicinal Chemistry. Volumetric Titrimetry and Gravimetric Titrimetry. Acid-Base Titrations in water and Titration curves. Precipitate formation Titration. Mohr Method. Volhard Method. Fajans Method. Absorption Indicators. Complexometric titration. Methods based on EDTA and Titration curves. Oxidation-Reduction Titration and Titration curves. Redox Indicators. Applications of all the aforementioned tecniques in medicinal chemistry.
