AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The objective of this course is to provide the methodological basis to deal with the modeling, analysis and planning of intermodal transport systems with particular reference to the maritime context. During the course, an overview of the characteristics and technologies adopted in intermodal transport systems will be provided, with particular reference to the maritime context. The main decision-making problems related to the planning and management of such systems will also be discussed. During the lessons there will be exercises, workshops and interventions by experts in the field (compatibly with the current state of health emergency).

TEACHING METHODS

The course will be offered through lectures, exercises and seminars.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Overview of the intermodal nodes at national, European and worldwide level, with particular attention to the maritime context. Introduction to the operations in a marine terminal, both from the infrastructural point of view that of the actors involved in the decision-making processes. Strategic and tactical planning in terminal containers (sizing of the yard, definition of the type and number of equipements, berths sizing). Operational planning problems in terminals container (mooring process planning, ship loading/unloading,  yard management problems, quay-side and land-side transport planning problems).
