OVERVIEW

The second year training course includes 575 hours of student activity at specialized laboratories in order to acquire skills with the purely practical activity envisaged by the profile of the Biomedical Laboratory Technician. The traineeship path is divided by sectors in periods of between two and five weeks. Before the professional training period, students must acquire 1 CFU of laboratory preparatory to the apprenticeship with obligatory presence.

Acquire knowledge and practical skills related to clinical chemistry, microbiology, immunometry, bacteriology, mycobacteriology, histology and basic cytology techniques.

pathological anatomy:Registration and filing of the material,Preservation a
nd fixation of the material,Sampling,Inclusion techniques in paraffin,Cutting techniques,Cytological preparations for exfoliative cytology,Cytological preparations of liquids,Basic histological stains.

microbiology:Notions on the management information system of microbiology,Acquisition of bacteriology laboratory techniques:environments, gowns, disposable gloves, glasses and mask for particular manipulations.
Containers, collection, transport, acceptance and right of refusal of the sample sorting sample,Land of culture, solids, liquids, enriched, selective and differentials. Sowing protocols of materials; Interpretation of the growths on the plates in relation to the sown materials; Protocols for identification and antibiogram; morphology of the colonies, reinsulation on selective media; 
Preparation of slides and stains: Gram, Ziel Nilsen, Methylene blue, Indian ink; manual and automatic identification, meaning of bionumero and index serological identifications, manual antibiogram, and with the use of automatic systems, MIC, Etest.
Anaerobic germs: culture in oxygen-free atmosphere, identification; Mycology yeasts and mycelial aerial forms recognition.Protection and safety in cultures for Mycobacteria;Decontamination of samples and sowing in solid and liquid soils,gene amplification techniques.Diagnosis of sexually transmitted diseases: Myc. H., Ureap. u.,Clamidya trachomatis, Trichomonas.
               
clinical chemistry:Characteristics of serum, plasma, anticoagulants and practical exercise on the treatment of such biological materials;Features and operation of automated equipment for clinical chemistry determinations with practical exercise; Calibrations and Daily Quality Verification (QC); Ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of equipment; Chemical examination of the liquor;Demonstration of the technical validation criteria of the obtained values, visualization of the quality control charts, of the methods and 
of the linearity of the reactions on the analyzers. Exercise on both automatic and manual pipetting methods,Reagent and consumable warehouse management,Correct use of DPI for the prevention of accidents deriving from the treatment of biological material

Electrophoresis: Electrophoresis of the serum proteins with Capillarys method in liquid phase.Acquisition of the operating principle of the equipment, preparation of reagents and quality controls,Visualization of serum, normal and pathological electrophoretic patterns,Performing zonal electrophoresis of urine on agarose gel,Deposition of urine samples on appropriate supports;Preparation and use of buffer and gel electrophoresis dye;Demonstration of serum and / or urinary immunofixation methods; Dosage of proteins by the nephelometric method. Preparation of reagents, calibrations, quality controls and validation of results;Use of the sample computer management program.
immunometry:Acceptance, storage and storage of samples (assessment of their suitability, thermolabile analytes, critical time for collection and delivery, etc.);automatic and semiautomatic basic instrumentation, daily preparation and extraordinary routine;Meaning of the tests performed;Knowledge of the main immunometric researches in the sector;Acquisition of the main techniques applied in immunometry;Automation in immunometry, use of this in the daily routine.Importance of the accuracy of the data processed according to the control / calibration performed on the equipment in use.The computer as an integrated system in the immunometric analysis: 
setting up, integration, management and conclusion of an automated routine model detection and processing of data obtained from the analyzes, autonomous management of the results with consequent development of the methods of control and / or confirmation.Interpretation of the data obtained in light of the various tests carried out and correlation with any historicized results.The error in immunometry: cause, treatment and remedy;Autoimmunity: celiac disease and allergy tests.

PREREQUISITES

Completion of the 1st year internship and passed the relevant barrier examination. Having passed all the exams of the first year except for an integrated non-preparatory course as required by the teaching regulations.

 

TEACHING METHODS

Learning activities of specialized laboratory techniques with mandatory attendance of 100% of the planned hours of the laboratories and direct learning through the use of instruments with the guidance of professionals belonging to the same Professional Profile. There are no individual study hours.

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Verification of the ability to perform laboratory tests with the description of the procedures for carrying out and the purposes of the test for clinical-diagnostic tests.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The exam takes place at the end of the completion of the annual internship. The student must demonstrate that he has achieved the intended objectives.
