The student must acquire the ability to describe the meaning of the test, remember the reference levels, understand the meaning of values above or below the reference values, know the situations in which a specific test is indicated. PREREQUISITES Basic knowledge of biology, histology, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, general pathology and pathophysiology are prerequisites of the course. TEACHING METHODS The lessons are held frontally and interactions with students will be sought as much as possible. In consideration of the health situation in our country, the lessons can be delivered online, possibly via live streaming. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Markers of inflammation, significance of the dosage of plasma proteins, evaluation of the leukocyte formula. Monoclonal Gammapathy. Cell damage markers, enzymatic and non-enzymatic, with clinical correlations. Renal function markers: renal clearance concept, significance of creatinine and plasma urea; estimate of VFG with formulas. Bilirubin: van den Berg test, direct and indirect bilirubin, conjugated and unconjugated bilirubin; clinical correlations. Tumor markers: correct use and correlations with tumor sites; meanings of liquid biopsy and research of circulating tumor DNA. Lipid and carbohydrate metabolism markers. Endocrine function markers. Urinalysis. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY Lecture notes on Aulaweb covering all the topics of the program will be provided to students; support books (NOT mandatory): Widmann: Clinical interpretation of laboratory tests, McGrow Hill; M.
