AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The objectives of the module are: - to introduce students to the world of robotics, interactive devices, applications or digital devices and the internet of things by observing and studying them in relation to interaction and usability; - to provide students the tools to understand the meaning of basic design concepts and to experience the design process dimension. Fundamental training moments are the communications dedicated to learning the elements of the process that goes from the analysis of needs to the conception and realisation of products and the practical exercises aimed at laying the foundations for the design of interfaces (both physical and virtual) according to the principles of Interaction Design (IxD), User Experience Design (UX) and Human Centered Design (HCD).

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the module is to introduce the student to the world of robotics, interactive devices, applications or digital devices and the internet of things by observing and studying them in relationship to interaction and usability. The module illustrates the state of the art of these sectors and introduces to interfaces design (both physical and virtual) applying the priciples of Interaction Design (ID), User Experience Design (UX) and Human Centered Design (HCD).

The module goal is to obtain students' awareness of a project methodology focused on interaction design, UX and HDC.

With the support of short lessons and through the development of a project or individual exercises, students will have to demonstrate not only the memorization of the notions provided but also the learning of tools such as:

- research and analysis, definition of the scenario, the problem and the reference figures

- concept and concept design;

- sketches, storytelling, wireframe, mock up;

- complete illustration of the project (from concept to final form) in graphic and oral form;

- ability to compare, critical analysis and team work.

TEACHING METHODS

The module is mainly organized according to the scheme of the project atelier. Theory and practice are developed together with collaborative approach and by team group.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The module deals with:

- design thinking;

- critical approach to the analysis and improvement of existing or new interfaces;

- definitions and principles of usability, ID, UX and HCD also through the presentation of examples and applied experiences;

The specific contents are defined before starting lessons and it will be communicated to students on aulaweb page. Aulaweb is the main tool for communication, weekly update by professors.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Oral and graphic (project or exercises with relative presentation).

The exam consists in the presentation, delivery and evaluation of the works produced within the module in the form of presentation of the exercises or of a single project and in the critical discussion of the same, also in relation to the theoretical contents provided during the semester.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Deliveries are assessed for completeness, interpretation skills, and presentation of the assigned topic. The oral exam, in addition to verifying the memorization and understanding of the theoretical notions provided, aims to ascertain the ability to critically re-elaborate the concepts acquired and to orient them to practical applications.
